  ......you can't be serious. Do you realize that most churches have volunteer donations? Some organizations have automatic debits as well if you wish to give that way. There are entire cottage industries that deal with charitable giving and philanthropic organizations and/or specific charities being funded by others.

  The branch didn't invent cloud funding. Having a local AUTONOMOUS church doing a bake sale to help their AUTONOMOUS little church run, is not pathetic. Criticizing them is what is pathetic my friend. You get apass because I can see you are very much still in the mentality.

  However, consider that i know at least SOME of my money from that bake sale may actually go to helping feed some homeless, maybe help someone with substance abuse, or maybe even fund an orphanage. What does it get me with my former faith? Who knows! There is no accounting for it. All is done in secret.

  What is the reason for this Gustv? Most organizations reveal their bookkeeping publicly.

  my goodness that was nothing !

  a letter was read today from bethel addressed to all congregations in britain that can only be described as the biggest news for years.the main points:.

  I'm not sure the consolidation is anything other than a shrewd business move. The society hoardes cash. They just do. Massive transfer of assets to cash is right in line with their personality.

  Then from there perspective, why not take that money sitting in assets in places where growth is 1-2 percent, and take it back using it to build where growth is much more likely. Africa and South America for example.

  LA isn't "growing". Its just LA. People move around. Its a cash grab and redistribution of the allocation of funds. Simple. Doesn't mean much. The faithful will complain int heir cars as they drive 15 extra minutes ot the hall, and then watch the video of the new hall in Africa their old hall helped erect....and they will feel connected to it.

  syneidos posted some interesting information on reddit regarding jw.org's latest project for the upcomming 2015 memorial campaign.. for next year's 2015 memorial campaign, jw.org is producing an invitational video featuring jesus.

  the video is still being filmed at the moment and i was told it was super "confidential.

  I love that according to Watcher, God has human limitations imposed on him. Who imposes these limitations?

  It blows my mind that people can see JW's, and think God is the reason they have any success, yet other religions success is due to Satan. It seriously is brilliant!

  She didn't do anything wrong, but I think if it was my little girl I would probably teach her not to stoop to the level of those that must preserve ego and self without anything other than emotional need, but simply ignoring him, or attempting to have a one on one discussion.

  ok so i know its not really anything to do with jwness but we are struggling with baby names and really can't think of one we both like.

  its getting a bit desperate as i'm due in about 8 weeks .. i'm getting bored of looking at the same old names on the baby names websites so any suggestions would be much appreciated (girls please).. **cash prize for the one we choose!

  JC's and recordings?

  i know there are recordings out there of jcs and more to come.

  i imagine the average drone wouldn't dream of recording a jc but those who are aware of the tatt might record jcs if they bother to attend.. i'm wondering (yes, another idle speculation post...sorreeeeeee), with the advent of more being recorded if the wbt$ will change their tack on how jcs are conducted?

  leave it the same?.

  JC's are a joke. I am ashamed I ever allowed myself to be dragged in the back room for any reason.

  I remember when something first clicked in my mind. Although it wasn't neccesarily for anything odd, the brothers wanted to speak to my wife. So they asked her in the back room.

  She was complying without a second thought, and at the time I was SWIMMING in kool aide. So I notice she is walking to the back and grab my bag thinking maybe we are leaving. She walks into the back room. So I didn't like the way that felt. Door closed.

  I stood there for 5 seconds. Like a dummy. Then my balls dropped and I knocked on the door. They cracked it.

  I said, "may I come in?"

  A nervous "suuuure", came out. I sat with her and listened. Something about her time, emotional state, whatever.

  At the end of it, I said, "hey guys, I'm not sure how you would feel about me asking your wife to join me in private for a conversation you weren't invited to, but it doesn't really set well with me."

  After they backtracked, and said nothing was meant improper blah blah.....I just said "no problem brothers, just don't let it happen again. I am certain that is not the proceedure even though I'm not sure one exists."

  I still think i let them off easy, but it opened my eyes to the unwilling control I had given strangers over my wife and myself! I never "obeyed" the elders again.

  FUNNY WToweresque Spanish in the Comics

  there was a recent thread talking about how the american english in the babble comics, often gets kids losing marks in school.. one of the posters said that he was a spanish speaker, and when he reads the comics and other litterature, it is actually unlike any normal spanish he has ever read.

  i don't speak spanish, so would like to have some examples, preferably funny.

  any takers?.

  I served in a spanish speaking country for a while. Gave talks in spanish etc... I have lost a lot of it now, but I don't remember anything particularly odd. "Theocratic spanish" is a term I have heard used. But its just abit more formal and includes words not normally used that are specific to the religion.

  Good ole 3W has been around for a while. His apologetics are NOT supported by the branch in any way, and he has no affiliation with some of the apologists from back in the late 90's early 2000's.

  Like Ann said he was an e watchman follower, who felt he was duped, and then went back to his former faith and decided to try to protect others. What his arguement seems to boil down to is a difference in view of seriousness and a technical leaning towards scapegoating certain things.

  Its the only "pro" JW abuse policy thing on the internet, and it is quite old. So when a JW gets the courage together to look for something, they can see his naughty little defense. They forward it as if to say......"see?"
